Something important to remember about any system where there is learning of movement sequences is that it takes practice, time and patience with the chosen system, as well as patience with yourself. Anyone can take a pill to kill pain; a method that often leads to a lack of sensitivity required to gauge what is really going on in your body. On the darker side it can lead to addiction, a problem our modern world knows far too much about. To learn how to naturally bring your self out of painful episodes, heal from injury, and to train your brain and body to change requires self-exploration.
The workshops offered through Root to Core are a great place to start self exploration. You will learn mindfulness skills to bring you in-touch with your body and mind. You will explore the 6 Pathways of CMI acquiring tools that you can take home with you for your own practice. As you will learn in the workshops these are movements you already do, but may have forgotten how to do efficiently and with ease. Add this knowledge to your life and learn quickly that you have had to ability the whole time to bring yourself out of pain, correct your posture and energize your daily life.
Workshops last from 3 to 4 hours and may involve walking, sitting and laying on the floor. So, be sure to wear comfortable clothes, as you would wear to a yoga class. Unless provided by the studio be prepared to bring your own yoga mat or blanket, and a full size towel that you don't mind folding to use as a bolster. Make sure you drink plenty of water and have eaten a light meal before a workshop. Comfort and health is the goal here. The more comfortable you are the easier it will be to learn and explore.
Individual sessions offer an opportunity for you to dive into your personal condition with the practitioner on a deeper level. This is more of a treatment setting and can be done at my office in Natick, or in the comfort of your home. During this time we can address any injuries, postural issues, movement habits you may have. We will assess your movement in walking, review the 6 Pathways and find where you need to adjust your movements.
Hands-on assistance from the practitioner will also be offered to help you through movement restrictions. Individual sessions will take about 1 to 2 hours depending on your needs. Pricing may vary depending on time and travel if applicable.
